Facts about Chappaquiddick Island:
Chappaquiddick Island is a small island off the eastern end of the larger island of Martha’s Vineyard and is part of the town of Edgartown, Massachusetts. The island’s name became nationally recognized following the Chappaquiddick incident involving Edward Kennedy in 1969.


The On Time (also known as the Chappy Ferry) is so named not because there is no schedule but because the boats running the route were built “on time” without delays in construction. The trip between Martha’s Vineyard and Chappaquiddick takes 2-3 minutes.
